3.3 Timecode Frame Rates

InqScribe supports several timecode standards:

  • 23.976 fps (or 23.98)
  • 24 fps (traditional film)
  • 25 fps (PAL)
  • 29.97 fps (NTSC)
  • 29.97 fps (NTSC Drop-Frame)
  • 30 fps (Digital Video)
  • 48 fps
  • 50 fps
  • 59.94 fps
  • 60 fps
  • 1000 fps

We refer to these as timecode frame rates.

Each InqScribe document has a native timecode frame rate, which is shown just above the transcript field. Don't confuse this with the frame rate of your video file! There is no connection between the two rates.

All timecodes inserted into this transcript will use the given format.

You can change the frame rate for a given document in the Transcript Settings dialog.

If you select a movie that has its own embedded timecode, it will have its own native timecode frame rate. In this case, it's generally a good idea for your transcript to use the same frame rate as the movie's timecode. In fact, if InqScribe notices a mismatch, it will ask you whether you want to adjust the transcript timecode to match the movie's.
